The 6 Components of Literacy

There are six components to literacy. They are Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Media, Thinking.

In our classrooms we have a tendency, for a variety of reasons (testing pressures), to focus on Reading and Writing. I will be sharing with you many ideas for Reading and Writing but I will also be sharing ideas for Listening, Speaking, Media and Thinking!
